Human Dignity

Here's what the Catholic Church says about torture:
Torture, which uses physical or moral violence to extract confessions, punish the guilty, frighten opponents, or satisfy hatred is contrary to respect for the person and for human dignity. It is necessary to work for its abolition, and we must pray for the victims and their tormentors.

Here's one thing we can do:
Call the Obama transition team at 202-540-3000 - after instructions, press "2" to speak with the transition team."President- elect Obama, I ask that after you are inaugurated President you issue executive orders to ban the use of torture with no exceptions, close the School of the Americas/WHINSEC and shut down Guantanamo Bay."

Prayer
For those who cling hopelessly to the bars of their prison
For those who moulder in the darkness
For those who have had their ribs kicked in
For those who have been hit in the face
For those who have been gagged
For those whose dignity lies in tatters on the floor
For those whose loved ones live in fear
For those whose country is in chains
And for the jailers: they too have suffered mutilation.

Just do it. Today.

Hechos, no palabras.

Actions not words - this is good.

Thank you for the tip. I will do it. Torture is an abomination.
