End of an Abomination
According to a story online this afternoon, President-Elect Obama is planning to issue a directive closing the camp at Guantanamo Bay as soon as he takes office, perhaps even on the first day. The camp won't actually close on that day, of course, but the executive order will start the process. This news, if it happens, is a real answer to prayer. The camp at Guantanamo Bay is an abomination, the cruel, fearful response to a painful attack. The innate dignity of each person, whether the one causing the hurt or the one hurting, demands a much more thoughtful response. From today's news, it sounds like we're finally moving in that direction. Read the story here.
